NYC bombing suspect formally charged in 8-count indictment

A federal grand jury in New York issued an eight-count indictment Wednesday, formally charging Ahmad Khan Rahimi in the September bombing campaign that targeted locations in New York and New Jersey before his dramatic capture in a shootout with police.

The indictment tracks similar allegations outlined in a September complaint, including the use of a weapon of mass destruction, after Rahimi allegedly planted devices at four locations across the region. One of the pressure-cooker explosives detonated in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood, injuring 31 people.
